The  Dog That is
Confused, Ill or in Pain

The most common pet to react to illness and hide is the cat. However, older dogs are also prone to this behavior if they are feeling unwell.

This dog is missing because it felt poorly, was confused or in pain. The dog has wandered away and is in hiding and unable or unwilling to respond. Contrary to popular belief, I do not believe cats or dogs go off to die. I believe they hide in an attempt to get away from anything that will disturb them. Unfortunately, when they go into hiding like this, they most likely need medical attention.

This scenario is not to be confused with a dog that has become injured or sick as a result of  escaping. This animal is already experiencing these afflictions prior to going missing.
